As part of the full set of dental services that Esthetique Dentistry provides, we also have Periodontists, Endodontists, and other specialists as part of our team who perform specialty dental procedures in our offices.
Our teams work together to provide the wide range of general and specialty services in the most convenient manner possible for our patients. They also share information and consult each other to insure the patient benefits from the wealth of available knowledge.
Periodontology, or Periodontics, is the branch of dentistry which studies supporting structures of teeth, and diseases and conditions that affect them. This includes treatment of the gums, soft tissues, and bones that support the teeth.
A periodontist is a dentist who has completed a university
post-graduate specialty program in periodontics. Periodontal
specialty programs are an additional two to three years in
duration following graduation from the four year dental school
program.
Endodontic therapy, also known as a root canal (therapy), is a treatment of the tooth aimed at clearing infection, as well as protecting the tooth from subsequent infections. The treatment is carried out in the pulp of the tooth.
Like a general dentist, an endodontist must complete dental
school which is generally four years long. In addition to dental
school, an endodontist must also complete an additional two to
three years of advanced training, also called residency. Board
certification is also available in this field and is provided by
the American Board of Endodontists.
Because basic training in endodontic procedures is provided in
dental school, general dentists may, and often do, perform
endodontic procedures. More complicated endodontic treatment
however usually requires the additional expertise of an
endodontist.
The range of other specialty services (aside from oral and
maxillofacial procedures) we provide are listed below.
